Meet Our Faculty
Monica Lloyd. Monica began practicing yoga in her early 20's and quickly discovered her kinship with the dynamic flowing practice of Astanga Yoga. As a lover of powerful and graceful movements Monica continued to explore many styles of yoga and movement, including surfing, mountain biking, rock climbing, trail running and dance. In 2003 Monica began teaching yoga and in 2004 completed her certification. During that same time period Monica traveled to India to gain a deeper understanding of the yoga tradition and Hatha Yoga practice. As an athlete she appreciates both the flexibility and strength that a well rounded yoga practice cultivates, as much as the grounding and centering aspects.
Liz Shine. Liz began practicing yoga in 1990. In 2005, having developed a strong personal commitment to the transformational nature of yoga, she completed her certification to teach yoga. Liz believes that a yoga practice should be intensely personal (and therefore, noncompetitive), that poses work on our body and mind simultaneously, and that yoga is why she has never had an injury from running though she has completed 2 marathons and more than 15 half marathons. A high school English teacher in her twelfth year of experience, she loves how her teaching practices inform and deepen each other. She is also a fiction writer, a mother, and a member of the Guerilla Running Racing Club.
Rachael Jamison. Rachael has taught yoga for over 10 years. In this time, she has developed a Yoga for Athletes program, a Yoga for Runners program, and a Yoga for Mountaineers Program. She believes strongly that yoga should be a central part of every athletes training program: prevents injury, sharpens mental focus, and increases strength and balance. Rachael is a co-founder of Guerilla Running and is the head coach for the GRRC Grrrls Edition. |
